October in My Mind

Cold October rains are falling
Quench the burning leaves of autumn's blaze
And as I stir the embers
Of the summer's warm remembered days

I feel the years around me
Mist and magic have spellbound me
Here, though all around the world is grey

Seems that all I see for is to see more summers die
And all I hear for is the hear the cold winds cry
Crying for winter

Soon the year will turn
And you will leave your winter sorrows far behind
But I have learned
That it will always be October in my mind

For every hope of spring deceives
Decays to dust and dying leaves
O time bereaves the trusting kind.

Seem to dance to a carnival beat
While the world beneath my feet is breaking into splinters
